Meeting the needs of the child (and family)
One of the wonderful things about children is that each child is unique. No two children look the same, act the same or have the same strengths and areas of need. As such, when we plan and conduct activities, we are always thinking about the individual child as well as the group as a whole.
Typically this is achieved through individual planning, and differentiation of speech, activity or resources. However, sometimes a little more support is required. This is when the role of the SENDCO comes in.
At Sunflowers nursery Pebworth, the staff are trained to recognise any such needs and will work with the SENDCo (Vicki) to achieve this. This may be via 1-1 support at certain key times, it may be through intervention activities or it may involve contacting outside agencies such as Speech and Language. However, throughout the process the family will be kept involved and updated and when possible will be signposted to additional support.
Worcestershire and Warwickshire have excellent resources available to support a range of areas from speech to behaviour and on to sleep or dummy use. Below are links to a few of the resources available. If you need something which isn't here, please speak to us. It is both our job and our pleasure to support your child achieve their very best potential and we will help in any way we can.
